Stagecoach are making changes to many of their services from 1st September 2024.  Full details of the changes and the new timetables will be available on their website shortly:  https://www.stagecoachbus.com/

Details of changes are shown in numeric order.

All buses are now tracked throughout their journey.   This data is used to review the reliability of services and make minor changes to the timetable to address any punctuality issues.  Some services have been subject to minor punctuality changes.  For the sake of keeping this email concise, these changes have not been listed.  

The main changes are as follows:

MID DEVON areas

1/1A Exeter – Broadclyst - Cullompton – Tiverton

• The late afternoon timetable is reduced from every fifteen minutes to every 20 minutes.
• Special fares for Clyst Vale Community College are withdrawn and normal child or adult fares will apply.
• The route of the evening journeys in Willand is changed to a loop via the B3181, Silver Street, South View Road, Somerville Road, Meadow Park, B3181, Willand Old Village, B3181.

5/5A/5C Exeter – Crediton

• The daytime frequency between Exeter and Crediton is reduced to every 30 minutes.
• Route to the City Centre is revised to use the new bus lane next to John Lewis and Sidwell Street instead of Longbrook Street and York Road, with the timetable revised to reflect this.

5A Exeter – Crediton – North Tawton – Hatherleigh - Okehampton

• Timetable is reduced to operate every two hours between Crediton and North Tawton.
• Afternoon peak departures are revised to accommodate Exeter College students.
• All journeys will now operate a through service from Exeter to Okehampton, removing the need to change in North Tawton on some journeys.
• Route to the City Centre is revised to use the new bus lane next to John Lewis and Sidwell Street instead of Longbrook Street and York Road, with the timetable revised to reflect this.

5B Exeter – Crediton – Torrington – Bideford – Barnstaple

• Route to Exeter City Centre is revised to use the new bus lane next to John Lewis and Sidwell Street instead of Longbrook Street and York Road, with the timetable revised to reflect this.
• The 1630 journey from Exeter will leave at 1645 to accommodate Exeter College students.  The service will operate via Morchard Road instead of Bow and North Tawton.
• Many journeys will be operated by double decker buses to provide additional capacity.

5C Exeter – Crediton –  Lapford – Chulmleigh

• Timetable revised but retains the same number of journeys.
• Route to the City Centre is revised to use the new bus lane next to John Lewis and Sidwell Street instead of Longbrook Street and York Road, with the timetable revised to reflect this.

55 Exeter – Tiverton

• Route to the City Centre is revised to use the new bus lane next to John Lewis and Sidwell Street instead of Longbrook Street and York Road, with the timetable revised to reflect this.
• On Exeter College Days a duplicate bus will be provided on the 0740 Tiverton to Exeter

346 South Molton – Witheridge – Tiverton

• Most journeys which presently connect with service 155 to and from Barnstaple will become through journeys, with no change of bus required.
• Most journeys will be operated by double deck buses.
• The 1015, 1215, 1415 and 1615 from South Molton will operate ten minutes earlier.

351 Tiverton – Rackenford Meadow

• Service 351 is funded by S106 developer contributions.
• Passenger numbers are very low.
• The service is reduced to two journeys per day at 0923 and 1155 in order to extend the funding period.

355 Exeter – Thorverton – Silverton – Tiverton

• Route to the City Centre is revised to use the new bus lane next to John Lewis and Sidwell Street instead of Longbrook Street and York Road, with the timetable revised to reflect this.

WEST DEVON areas

6 Okehampton – Holsworthy – Bude

• Timetable revised to accommodate a later finish time at Budehaven School.
• Timetable has minor changes to reflect punctuality data.

6A Exeter – Tedburn St Mary – Whiddon Down – Okehampton

Stagecoach has given notice on the contract that provided additional journeys between Okehampton and Exeter, funded by the Bus Service Improvement Plan grant from the Department for Transport.  Having reviewed the costs of a new contract and the low number of passengers using these journeys, it is unfortunately not possible to continue them.

• The 0730, 1105 and 1405 journeys from Exeter to Okehampton are withdrawn
• The 1230 and 1530 Okehampton to Exeter journeys are withdrawn.
• The 0640 Okehampton to Exeter Saturday journey is withdrawn.
• The 0847 Whiddon Down – Okehampton Saturday journey is withdrawn.
• The 1705 Exeter – Okehampton journey is withdrawn on Saturdays.
• An additional journey at 1305 from Exeter to Okehampton is introduced.
• The 0930 Okehampton to Exeter will start from West Street instead of the Bus Station.
• Route to the City Centre is revised to use the new bus lane next to John Lewis and Sidwell Street instead of Longbrook Street and York Road, with the timetable revised to reflect this.

6B Tavistock – Okehampton

• New service providing one journey each way between Tavistock and Okehampton Monday – Friday.
• Journeys will continue to and from Exeter as service 6A.

87/87A Tavistock - Bere Alston

• Journeys towards Tavistock will operate via Gulworthy between Rock Cottage and Harvest home instead of direct.

TEIGNBRIDGE

• The 0741 Newton Abbot to Totnes is withdrawn.
• The 1845 Exeter to Totnes journey will terminate at Newton Abbot.
• The 1830 Newton Abbot to Matford Park and Ride journey is withdrawn.
• The 1915 Totnes to Matford Park and Ride journey will terminate at Newton Abbot.
• The 1942 Monday to Friday/1940 Saturday  journey from Totnes to Matford Park and Ride will terminate at Newton Abbot and will operate later departing at 2000.
• The 2040 Totnes to Newton Abbot journey will be revised to depart later at 2100.
• The 2140 journey from Totnes to Newton Abbot will be withdrawn. 
• Journeys from Exeter to Totnes will now terminate at Coronation Road, Totnes to improve connections with Service 92 to Dartmouth.

12 Newton Abbot – Torquay – Paignton - Brixham

• Monday – Saturday daytime frequency increased to every 12 minutes.

53 Kingsteignton – Newton Abbot - Torbay Hospital – The Willows

• Most journeys will now serve Torbay Hospital before The Willows

360 Christow – Bridford – Dunchideock – Ide – Exeter

·       All journeys will serve Christow before Bridford in clockwise loop

·       The timetable is revised because of this change.
